Educator for Social Justice

Greetings and Welcome,
My name is Tonya Walls and I am currently a full-time, Nationally Board Certified educator for The Clark County School District (CCSD) in Las Vegas, Nevada. In my tenure as an educator, I have served as an elementary teacher, secondary teacher, literacy coach, literacy consultant, program coordinator, assistant principal and adjunct faculty for the Teacher Development programs at both California State University East Bay in Hayward, California and Holy Names University in Oakland, California. I have served in education for a total of 21 years and am currently serving as an Assistant Principal at Roger Bryan Elementary School.
I am passionate about teaching, learning, and educational leadership and feel that becoming an 'educator' is my calling. When I am not teaching, you may find me reading a good book, writing poetry, or traveling the world. However, as an educator, my goal has always been to ensure that ALL students have equitable access to a quality education and to ensure that educational opportunities for the students and families that I serve are maximized.
In that light, my interests in education are in the areas of blended learning, curriculum, instruction, culturally culturally responsive practice, and organizational leadership. I also count these areas among my strengths and am proud to share my expertise in each of these areas with the schools and educational communities that I serve.
I invite you to learn more about my work as an educator by visiting the other pages of this e-portfolio. Here you will find a more detailed description of my professional tenure. If you have questions, and or comments, feel free to use the comment space below to contact me.
Sincerely,
Tonya Walls
